"Pull out, Wedge! You're no good back there!"

"I'm sorry"

A famous picture of Wedge Antilles at Echo Base on Hoth, now thought by some scholars to actually be Block Antilles

Wedge Antilles was a cowardly man raised on a wet vapor farm. His parents, David "Oktung" Antilles and Leia Antilles were Rebel soldiers that invented the extremely effective suicide-bomb tactic against Star Destroyers. After countless successful missions, their careers were cut short by their deaths at the hands of some Stormtroopers. They showed up to collect taxes on the Mars Homestead, but the Antilles didn't have the money.

Distraught by the death of his parents, he vowed to continue his parents' legacy by becoming the Rebellion's best pilot. Unfortunately, his underestimated how scared he was of flying and of death, and was near useless in every dogfight he has ever participated in. Always fleeing the battle for various reasons that were all lies, his fellow pilots never got along with him.

After finding out that Echo Base was going to be built on the planet of Hoth, Wedge called it quits as he has never enjoyed the cold very much. Not wanting to be hunted from the Rebellion as a deserter, he sent his twin brother Block Antilles in his place. Block crashed his Speeder in Echo Base's shield generator accidently, destroying the machine in a fantastic explosion. General Veers never knew the proudest moment of his military career was a fraud.

Wedge returned to the Rebellion as soon as he found out Echo Base was abandoned, mostly because of financial difficulties. During the Battle of Endor, once Wedge witnessed the thousands of TIE Fighters coming toward the fleet, he fled toward the Death Star and into one of its construction sites in order to land and try to impersonate as an Imperial Officer. While looking for a place to land, he came across the Death Star's power generators. Frustrated he obviously went too deep into the complex, he smashed his fists into his X-Wing's steering wheel. Unknowingly he deployed a proton torpedo by doing this, destroying the power generator and the cause of the second Death Star's destruction.

After barely escaping from the resulting explosion, Wedge accidently crashed into the Millenium Falcon, killing him instantly.

Posthumous investigation revealed that he was a huge fan of online discussion forums, being the only place he could come clean about his job-related fears. He was also one of the few Rebel Alliance members to own one of those little boot things that ran around on the death star, having bought it from a drunken smuggler on Dantooine who claimed it had fallen off the back of a Star Destroyer.
