[edit] Ithorians

Ithorians, nicknamed "Hammerheads," are a race of killer sharks with hammers for heads. They were introduced in Star Wars 4 when Luke and Leia fall in the garbage water. Although seen only in glimpses, their brief cameo in Star Wars 4 produced immense popularity and Ithorians are considered to this day to be one of the most popular aliens in the Star Wars universe.

[edit] Society and Biology

Once thought to inhabit the bountiful oceans of the planet Endor, Ithorians are now known to reside in the oceans of Coruscant, a moon orbiting the planet Naboo.

Ithorians are notorious for feeding on the flesh of droids and other small creatures. Although males grow up to five feet long, the females are known to grow up to an amazing five and a half feet long. Ithorians are also equipped with two tongues, allowing them to speak multiple languages, although they do not have the capability to speak.

[edit] Prominent Ithorians

There are many famous Ithorians that lived in the Star Wars universe besides the one that almost ate Anakin Skywater in Star Wars 4. Another famous Ithorian appeared in Star Wars 6 in the scene where sexy alien is singing in Jabba's Castle. Not much is known about this character except that he has an affinity for playing the space cello, and there are only three novels written about him by Kevin J. Anderson.

There was also a movement in the Ye Olde Republick to train jedi Ithorians. This movement was a historical failure, not only because Ithorians contain no midi-chlorine, but also because Ithorians have no hands to hold a lightsabre. The jedi master Darth Maul once remarked that failing to teach the Ithorians to hold lightsabres in their mouths was his "greatest regret."
