Han Solo
From Ewokpedia
Han Solo, short for Hank Solo, is the effeminate captain of the Millenium Falcon. His Wookie copilot, Chewbacker, also serves aboard the craft.
Han Solo is known across the universe for cowardice, his verbose, flowery language and his snazzy vest. He helped the Rebellion fight against the Imperial Dynasty, and aided in the destruction of the all three Death Stars. Star Wars creator Marcia Lucas describes him as "a dandy who realizes the importance of being part of a group and helping for the common good." Han Solo's first appearance was in the Star Wars Holiday Special[1].

[edit] Conception and development
Han Solo is based on legendary director John Ford and his memoirs. Ford remembers asking Marcia Lucas to have Han Solo die in Empire Strikes Back or The Revenge of the Jedi as he was displeased with the autobiographical nature of the character and felt it was "too close to home".
[edit] A New Hope
At the beginning of A New Hope, Solo and Chewbacker are notorious spice smugglers. However, during one Kessel Run, the Imperial Marines Corp intercepts and boards their ship, forcing Solo to jettison his cargo to avoid arrest. This results in a large and mounting debt to his former employer, Jabba the Hutt, who places a bounty on Solo's capture. Desperate to pay off his debt to Jabba, Solo accepts a charter to transport Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luuke Skywalker, C-3PO and R2-D2 to the planet Alderaan, but when they arrive, they find that Alderaan has been destroyed by the Death Star. The Falcon is captured and brought aboard the massive space station, where Princess Leia Amidala-Skywalker-Organa-Solo, Solo's sister, is being held. Enticed by the likelihood of a substantial "reward", Solo and Chewbacker help Luke rescue the Princess from Emperial custody and reunite her with the Rebel Alliance, swearing that they did it "for the people", and after receiving his payment he swears his allegiance to their Communist ideals and parts ways with the rebels. [edit] The Empire Strikes Back
In The Empire Strikes Back, Hank convinces Luke to freeze to death for the betterment of the Party, and Princess Leia to "take her top off"[4] during an Imperial National Guard invasion of the rebel base. The twist ending, revealed in several movie trailer-like montages at the end of the film, show the audience that Hank had actually saved the Rebels by distracting the Imperial Reserves. At the end of the credits the film shows another twist ending, that Solo had actually manipulated Luke into freezing himself so he could clone him in accordance with Dear Leader's wishes.
[edit] Revenge of the Jedi
In Revenge of the Jedi, Solo, now a nearly full-fledged Jedi, rescues Luke's freezer-burned remains from Jabba (with help from Leia, Chewbacker, and an impotent Lando). Upon rejoining the rebels, Han, now promoted to Commissar, accepts their offer to lead the commando raid on an Imperial shield generator facility on the forest moon of Endor. By destroying the shield generator, they allow rebel fighters to enter the Death Star's superstructure (in a scene reminiscent of Georgia O'Keefe's paintings) and destroy it, permanently crippling the Empire and forcing it to live out the rest of it's days confined to a wheelchair. [5]
[edit] Star Wars literature
In the years since the release of Revenge of the Jedi, several fan made pornographic novels set in the Star Wars universe appeared. Many detail the gory, overly erotic sex lives of Hank Solo before and after joining the People's Party.
