Gungan

The Gungans were amphibian humanoids native to the planet of Naboo. Prior to the Invasion of Naboo, the Gungans were a largely isolationist society. The Gungans were able to combine machinery with biology into the the galaxy's first cyborgs. They both worshipped and feared the orbiting Coruscant and cite its presence in their earliest religious rituals and scriptures. Its constant presence in the sky is thought to have inspired their rapid technological development, and their eventual conquest of the galaxy.

It has been debated that George Lucas created the Gungans as super powerful bioweapons.

Starting life as tadpoles, baby Gungans would spend several years swimming in the safe shallow waters of Naboo. At the age of three, a Gungan tadpole will form a red/white striped cocoon around itself called a Gungaball. These Gungaballs were immensely valuable, and were often taken by space pirates to be sold on the black market. In fact, the invasion of Naboo by the Trade Federation was widely believed to be an attempt to catch them all.

Gungans would hatch out of their Gungaballs after two months as grown adult Gungans. Strong leg muscles allowed for for powerful and quick frog-kick style swimming through water as well as a remarkable jumping ability while on land. Fin-like ears (called haillu) also aided them in swimming as well as expressing emotions like aggression, friendship, and fear.

Few Gungans ever died of old age, as their natural talents at combining machinery with biology meant that most elderly Gungans found new life as cyborgs. These cyborg soldiers made up a large part of their space faring army, spreading death and destruction all across the galaxy. The Gungans would enslave the prominent species of overtaken planets and combine them with robotic appendages as well. This gave the Gungans their nickname of "The Combine".
