Grand Hoff Wilhuff Tarkin was the Imperial officer in charge of the first Death Star. He perished when it was blown all to shit by the Rebels. He was in his private life a republican who had improper liasons with his underlings, the most famous of these being the affair with Admiral Natacha Atlas Daala. Tarkin frequently tapped his foot while in the refresher.

Grand Hoff Tarkin was portrayed in A New Hope by Peter Cushing, one of only two real actors in the film. He and Sir Alec Guiness caused some controversy with their rampant Ewok-clubbing off camera.
He is most well known for his successful line of perfume products.
