Expanded Universe

The Expanded Universe or EU (pronounced "ewww!!") is the collective works of various artists to "expand" the Star Wars "universe". George Lucas himself has publicly stated that the EU is considered to be "highly canonical" and "totally spot-on." As such, he has taken pains to ensure that all 6 Star Wars movies are completely reconcilable with the events from the EU. Consequently, both the EU novels and the movies can be thought of as having the same degree of canonicityness.
