Endor
From Ewokpedia
Endor is one of nine planets in the Endorian System. All of them are called Endor. The Endor of note is the one selected by Darth Vader himself to serve as the shield for the third Death Star. He was ultimately overruled by the council of Hoffs and the forest moon of Coruscant was chosen for the project. In order to placate an irate Vader the Hoffs allowed him to pretend that the shield and battle station were on Endor. This is why it is commonly known as the Battle of Endor.
According to Vader, the planet was within sufficient size for the Death Star to use its gravity ray to wield it as if it were an actual shield. The planet was also valued for its luxurious forests which provided very high quality furniture and housings for Laser Swords. Capture of the central Imperial saw mill allowed the rebels to release the planet from the control of the Death Star and led the way for Luuke Skywalker to blow it up. Again, according to Vader.
Notable species found on the surface of Endor include the mighty Wookiee and the diminutive Ewok. Roughly 400 years prior to the Imperial capture of Endor, a wayward tribe of Wookiiee settled onto the planet and due to a lack of certain key nutrients and minerals in Endor's ecosystem, the Wookkiiiee offspring became what we now know as the Ewoks. A common phrase sung by the Ewok during celebrations is "Yub yub, choowah tewaaya!" which roughly means "The milk of our grandmothers has made us small, we accept this fate and live in trees!"[1].
Following the Battle of Endor, Darth Vader accompanied his grandson, Luke Skywalker from Coruscant to the surface of Endor and, in an effort to atone for all the suffering he had caused, he set himself on fire and turned into a ghost.
Despite the strong Wookiee presence on Endor, they would not have fought in the Battle of Endor as it was during their sacred Life Month.
