Dash Rendar in A New Hope
Dash Rendar was the original inspiration for the character of
Han Solo, and is considered by most to be the superior of the two. Dash Rendar is everything Han Solo is not: rough around the edges, a great pilot, in love with Leia, willing to work for the Alliance (but only on his own terms!) and prone to making lewd comments at inappropriate times. Much like
Sam Gamgee is considered the true hero of
Lord of the Rings and not
Frodo, Dash is frequently interpreted as the underdog anti-hero of
Star Wars as opposed to the more straight-laced, officious
Solo.
At the end of the series Dash Rendar grows to over 22 feet tall.
