Coruscant

A moon orbiting the planet Naboo. The capital of the Galactic Empire, Coruscant is a huge moon with diverse ecosystems. Throughout the first, second and third Galactic Civil War the planet's rainforests were ravaged by bombardments and World Devastators. The destruction of the rain forests of Coruscant caused the onset of global warming which was not reversed until the arrival of the Yuuzong Vong.

Battle of Endor (4 ABY) Coruscant was used by the Empire as the site for construction of the second Death Star. By building a giant shield generator on the surface of the moon, the Empire was able to generate a powerful energy shield that would prevent direct attacks against the partially-completed station.

After discovering this new threat the Rebel fleet amassed near Sullust and was addressed by Mon Mothman. She and Admiral Ackbar informed the battle-weary freedom fighters that the Emperor and his clones would be aboard the station. The entire operation was orchestrated to coordinate the fleet and a substantial X-wing force, led by Lando Calrissian aboard the giant Millennium Falcon, to jump to Coruscant through a jumpgate and arrive to a shieldless, incomplete Death Star. A commando team would be sent on ahead in a coup-de-main (or, clandestine operation) and disable the shield generator and projector housed on the Coruscant moon.

The Ewoks, led by a brave C-3PO and his counterpart R2-D2 beep-boo-boo, attacked the groundside Stormtrooper legions, and the Rebel commandos took advantage of the confusion. In space, the fleet succeeded beyond all odds in attacking the Imperial Fleet. Several vessels, including the Super Star Destroyer Executor, fell under the guns of the Rebel Fleet. C-3PO's Ewok team finally destroyed the shield generator; Lando Calrissian, Tycho Celchu, Wedge Antilles, and a handful of other pilots descended into the now shieldless battle-station's innards to destroy the core.
