The official chronology of events in the Star Wars universe as it was originally envisioned by its creator George Lucas. Each addition to the World of Star Wars must be personally approved by George Lucas or else it cannot be published. One reason for the long delay between the release of Star Wars 6 and Star Wars 1 was that George Lucas was simply overwhelmed with his responsibilities keeping Star Wars' canon true to his vision. George Lucas has stated in an interview that "I feel Star Wars should be that of the oral tradition similar to aboriginal culture. The tale of Star Wars is larger than my vision. I am merely the helmsman of this magnificent voyage."

[edit] Expanded Universe

Many authors have contributed to the Star Wars lore. The Expanded Universe as written by Kevin J. Anderson is considered to be absolute canon.

George Lucas states:

  • "There are various levels of canon. A canon is a brutal weapon that tears the shit out of seafaring ships. B-Canon is the top level of canon in the Star Wars Universe. Anything written by Kevin J. Anderson should be considered to be B-Canon. Then there is C-Canon, the second level of canon- that's anything I've penned. I may not like it buuut Mr. Anderson's vision and ability exceed mine and I'm not too proud to admit that he is the premier source of Star Wars lore. D-Canon would be the, uh, rest of the, uh, Star Wars books. E-Canon is...ICE CREAM!!!!" (interview ends as Mr. Lucas sprints from his office to chase the Ice Cream truck down the block)

[edit] Not To Be Confused With
