Bowcaster

The Bowcaster is a hybrid of ancient and modern weapon technology. It combines the firepower of a modern blaster assault rifle with the accuracy of a traditional Kashyyyykian cross bow. The bowcaster is powered by two Cygnus Systems 819-AD fusion reactors at both ends of the cross bow section of the weapon. In secondary fire mode, the bowcaster's energy discharge would bounce off most surfaces, except, apparently, enemy targets. This feature was considered mildly entertaining, but useless. The secondary fire mode of the Tenloss DXR-6 Disruptor Rifle, however, was badass.

The Bowcaster is a classic example of the wookie culture's technophobia and fear of change. Further examples include the woodsaber - used by Wookie Jedi instead of of the lightsaber used by their peers, a rotary dialer still included on their wood-space-phone, and their propensity to graft redundant wooden wheels onto the sides of their starships.

Furthermore, their society was housed in tree houses made from wood, rather than the space age materials more advanced civilizations used in the production of their trees.

A Bowcaster can also refer to a man who, though straight, nonetheless finds himself attracted to David Bowie.
