Bender the bending droid, as seen in the Clone Wars cartoon

"I can see why they call you the greatest bending droid in the galaxy!"

Bender is a bending droid, seen breifly in Star Wars 5: The Empire Strikes Back on the Cloud City, bending other droids into scrap. In fact, Bender nearly bent C-3PO into a pretzel of tin and oil.

His story began when he was constructed by Master Mold on the lava planet Coldh. Originally his purpose was to teach other bending droids how to bend things, but he knew his purpose was greater. It is rumored he was also force sensitive, but no one has said for certain. He rebelled against his programming and staged a robot coo, almost destroying Master Mold in the process. The rebellion was quelled, and Bender was banished from Coldh, as was his master plan along.

He was shipped via a transport cruiser to the planet Dantooine, where many things needed bending. He quickly learned that the natives didn't take too kindly to droids, and he was refused service in many cantinas and luncheons. During this phase in his shelf-life, Bender dealt with a deep bout of robo-depression, which was cured when he received an upgrade in his programming from 2BR02B in a chance encounter.

Eventually he was purchased by the Trade Federation who needed many things bent, and was secretly shipped to Cloud City as a spy for Roderick Palpatine. It was there he met, and fell in love, with Wedge Antilles who would neither return Benders love, nor his many space-phone calls. This spurning lead to an explosive bout of robo-depression, but a corrupted (some say sithish) new version that turned Bender to the droid version of the Dark Side.

Bender was back to his old ways, forming a new army of droids inside Bespin's tall city walls, but his plan was unknowingly spoiled by Darth "Johnny" Vader when he kidnapped Han Solo, which caused Lando Calrissian to leave Cloud City, leading to the deaths of every inhabitant, droids included.
